Saturnalia to Surrealism: Christmas at the Roman Baths and Victoria Art Gallery

Art lovers can also take time out at the Victoria Art Gallery to explore the stunning Surrealism in Britain exhibition, make a Surrealist-style yuletide decoration, and admire the Christmas tree in the foyer, which will be festooned with decorations inspired by a painting from the collection.

Councillor Paul Roper, Cabinet Member for Economic & Cultural Sustainable Development, said: “Bath is a wonderful place to spend time over the festive season, with colourful illuminations and the famous Christmas Market – and a visit to the Roman Baths or Victoria Art Gallery makes an unforgettable addition to a winter day out in the city. There’s lots happening and we look forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy all the creative and fun activities we have planned over Christmas and New Year.”

Art fans are convinced they have spotted a young time traveller in a 17th Century painting. Dutch Master Ferdinand Bol’s ‘Portrait of a Boy’ has garnered a huge amount of online interest thanks to some eagle-eyed visitors to the National Gallery in London.

Saudi Arabia, UK launch art and heritage campaign

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Royal Institute of Traditional Arts, or Wrth, has launched an initiative with the UK titled “A Shared Heritage of Two Kingdoms,” which celebrates how art bridges cultures.

It is a part of the GREAT Futures Initiative Conference held in Riyadh on May 14 and 15, which showcased opportunities for UK businesses in Saudi Arabia.
