The Seattle Art Museum has announced that it will present in 2025 a major retrospective for the artist Ai Weiwei. This marks the artist’s first U.S. retrospective in more than a decade and his largest-ever exhibition in the United States, a release from the organization noted.
“Ai, Rebel: The Art and Activism of Ai Weiwei” will run from March 12-Sept. 7. The exhibit, which also is the artist’s first solo exhibition in Seattle, will explore more than 100 works created between the 1980s-2020s.
It will feature iconic works from his career such as “Dropping a Han Dynasty Urn” (1995) and “Study of Perspective” (1995-2011), and will also debut works never before shown in the United States.
