Arts for Impact campaign launches to bring much-needed funds to cultural sector

BIG Give, the UK’s most successful match funding platform, is launching its inaugural arts-focused fundraising campaign today, in partnership with New Philanthropy for Arts & Culture (NPAC), a network of arts supporters who are passionate about increasing philanthropic support of the arts and culture sector.

Until Tuesday, 26th March, the campaign will match donations to 239 arts charities across the UK, multiplying the public’s generosity. A variety of different art forms which have a social impact in their local communities are being funded, including music, theatre, dance, visual arts, museums, galleries and literature.

Art centre offers free places for vulnerable people

A Gloucestershire art centre is fundraising to provide free art classes to vulnerable people.

New Brewery Arts in Cirencester is aiming to raise £12,000 by 1 July to provide 1,200 free classes to people in need of support.

They have named the movement New Brewery Hearts and aspire to give joy to people who are unable to access creativity.

Working with local charities, the arts centre hopes to offer fully-funded places on classes, courses and workshops.

Blind veteran organises art exhibition

A blind veteran from Daventry is turning her passion for art into vital funds by organising an art exhibition to raise money for Blind Veterans UK, the national charity for vision-impaired ex-Service men and women, which helped her to embrace life with sight loss.

Jennie Fuller served in the Woman’s Royal Army Corps (Provost) for five years before a career with Northamptonshire Police. Jennie lost her sight suddenly whilst at work and was eventually diagnosed with bilateral optic atrophy which is sight loss caused by damage to the optic nerve.

Armed only with snouts and natural disregard for rules of composition, a pack of strays are hard at work on their canvases, redefining essence of abstract art.

In their studio in Bristol, western England, rescue dogs Rosie and Alba are hard at work on their canvases, redefining the essence of abstract art – one tail swish at a time. To the untrained eye, their work at Bristol Animal Rescue Centre (ARC) could be seen as boisterous, childish at times and even just plain old messy.
