Worcester man’s donation to allow new art gallery to be developed

AN AMERICAN philanthropist who grew up in Worcester has made a huge donation to enable a new art gallery to be developed.

The cash has been donated by Martin Cook to the Worcestershire Heritage, Art and Museums charity, which will go towards developing the first-floor galleries at Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum.

Martin’s donation will enable a new gallery to be developed which will display the city’s collections of fine and decorative art.

This gallery will include Worcester’s nationally significant gloving collection, one of the largest of its type in the world.

FEIN Collections, which opened in April this year, is presenting Dancing on the Razor’s Edge by artist David Hansen.

His detailed works explore the destruction of nature and humanity through an array of artistic mediums.

Manor house renovated as home and art gallery

A Grade II* listed manor house built in the 17th Century has been restored and brought back into use as a family home.

Burderop House in Chiseldon, Wiltshire, which was redesigned into its current neo-classical square design in the 18th Century, had been used as offices for several decades.

Property developer, Arthur Dallimer, has now converted the house into a home with a downstairs space turned into an arts venue.”I’m very happy to have been able to have brought back one of the town’s most beautiful buildings into its original use like this,” he said.

Colombian underwater ‘Art Gallery’ serves as coral sanctuary

Off the coast of Colombia beneath the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea, a unique art installation is emerging as a beacon of hope for threatened coral ecosystems. Crafted by artisans Hugo Osorio and Pedro Fuentes, this underwater sculpture gallery located near Isla Fuerte is not just a visual spectacle but also a vital sanctuary for marine life.

Comprising 25 intricately designed figures each standing at a height of 1.5 meters, the gallery serves as an artificial reef offering refuge to corals endangered by the impacts of tourism and climate change. These sculptures placed strategically at a depth of approximately six meters provide an ideal substrate for coral growth attracting a diverse array of marine inhabitants from colourful fish to curious divers.
