Sacred – Indigenous Multimedia Art Display
Curated by Indigenous curator Rose Spahan with the assistance of Eli Hirtle, Sacred features artworks throughout City Hall in a variety of media, including indoor murals, an LED light painting, an outdoor projection, a short film, a poem, a series of photographs and a series of silk-screened prints. All artworks have been created by Indigenous artists living on Vancouver Island.

The intent of these works is for the audience to experience the love, creativity, talent and ingenuity of the creations. An outdoor art installation that has only previously shown on London’s South Bank could be heading to Plymouth.
The display would be part of an exhibition run by The Box museum and is made up of 12 individual umbrella structures which are each almost 4m (13.1ft) high.
Plymouth City Council is seeking approval from its planning committee to allow it to be displayed outside St Luke’s Church at Tavistock Place.

On Wednesday, Dec. 4, the Union hosted a holiday art market showcasing local artists. Vendors offered everything from jewelry and knitted clothing to on-site portrait drawings. As I browsed and shopped from table to table, a few of the vendors graciously answered some of my questions about their craft.
