Parkersburg Art Center exhibition showcases artwork of Billy Foster

A new exhibit will be opening at the Parkersburg Art Center on Friday with an opening reception from 5-7 p.m. entitled “The Outlaw: Works by Billy Foster.”

Foster was a self-taught artist who was sent to the Moundsville penitentiary when he was 18 and spent the next 28 years in prison creating thousands of pen and ink drawings and oil paintings.

Art collector Benny Dunfee befriended Foster in the late 1980s and began buying artwork from his friend, saying “I just liked Billy.” This exhibit is the first time his collection will be on display.

Foster’s favorite themes included coal mining, wildlife and rural West Virginia. He admired artists Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell, both depicters of the American West As Foster was creating a scene he is known to have said, “I lived in that picture.”

Bleach Manga Art Receives Blessing at a Buddhist Temple

One of the three Shonen manga greats, Bleach was resurrected from certain death and came back to us as the final anime arc, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War in 2022. What’s more, specially produced Bleach manga art scrolls were also blessed in a Buddhist temple.

Bleach Blessing at Jindaiji Temple

Two Bleach art scrolls from the specially-made The Millennium series have undergone a blessing ceremony at Jindaiji Temple in Chofu, Tokyo. According to Shueisha Manga-Art Gallery, this was following the advice of Nicole Coolidge Rousmaniere, who had previously curated a manga exhibition at the British Museum.

Azerbaijani artist’s artwork featured at ‘Art En Capital 2024’ exhibition in Paris

The artworks of Nigar Narimanbeyova, an artist known for her legacy as the successor of the renowned Azerbaijani artist Vidadi Narimanbeyov, are currently on display at the “ART EN CAPITAL 2024” international contemporary art exhibition at the “Grand Palais Ephemere” in Paris.

Participating in this exhibition for the third consecutive year, Nigar Narimanbeyova has unveiled a new painting titled “Tariel – Little Harry Potter,” dedicated to her grandson, alongside other works. Notably, in 2016, she was honored with the “TOILE D’OR,” the supreme prize of the prestigious “Autumn Salon” organized by the French National Federation of Independent French Artists.

5 artworks from Gilan province to be showcased at 8th Fajr handicrafts festival

Providing insights into the selection process, Mostafa Khanalinejad, the Deputy of Handicrafts and Traditional Arts at the Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Department in Gilan province, explained that during the preliminary judging overseen by the Deputy of Handicrafts and Traditional Arts of the Ministry, five outstanding works by artists from this province successfully secured coveted spots in the 8th Fajr Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Festival.

Khanalinejad further detailed the selected handicrafts, attributing them to the skilled hands of Shima Rahbaryar, Sharare Kiabi, Sayede Asieh Sadeghi, Mohammad Hossein Shabani, and Zohra Ashuri.
