New art exhibition highlights 29 Indigenous painters

“Dreaming Our Futures: Ojibwe and Očhéthi Šakówiŋ Artists and Knowledge Keepers,” a new art exhibition highlighting the work of 29 Indigenous painters, opened at the Katherine E. Nash Gallery in the Regis Center for Art at the University of Minnesota Jan. 16.

The showcase is the inaugural exhibition of the George Morrison Center for Indigenous Arts, named after the influential Ojibwe painter and sculptor. This new research center will support “the creation, presentation, and interpretation of Indigenous art in all its forms and makes no distinction between the fine arts and Indigenous traditional arts,” according to the University’s College of Liberal Arts website.

The exhibition will run until March 16 before traveling to the Rochester Art Center and later the Tweed Museum of Art at the University of Minnesota Duluth. There will be an opening reception and public program on Feb. 3 starting at 4 p.m.

Ed Sheeran Sculpted From Sushi Ingredients In Unique Art Exhibition

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, along with other notable celebrities, has been creatively sculpted into a sushi masterpiece as part of an art exhibition in London.

In celebration of International Sushi Day, renowned food artist Michelle Wibowo crafted sushi sculptures of Ed Sheeran, Elton John, Benedict Cumberbatch, and England football stars Bukayo Saka and Harry Kane using sushi ingredients like rice, salmon, and pickled ginger.

Wibowo, 45, spent approximately 120 hours crafting the grapefruit-sized sculptures from Japanese specialty ingredients.

The unique artworks were showcased at the CasildArt Gallery in collaboration with Japanese food brand Yutaka.

Mongolian artist to open solo exhibition in Japan

Member of the Union of Artists of Mongolia, artist of the Art Gallery of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Tsedenpil will open her solo exhibition in Japan entitled “Mongol Art”.

The exhibition is dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Art Gallery of Mongolia and the 50th anniversary of the Treaty on Cooperation in Culture between Mongolia and Japan.

The event will feature about 20 artworks by the artist and her large-scale painting “Ikh Khuree”, completed in five years.

Juneteenth Art Exhibition Set for Abbot Kinney Boulevard

The Event Features Works by Twelve Prominent Black Artists From Los Angeles

An art exhibition titled “FREEDOM” will open at 910 Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice from June 16 to June 23, 2024, commemorating Juneteenth. Organized by Black in Mayberry in partnership with ESMoA, the event features works by twelve prominent Black artists from Los Angeles.

The exhibition reflects on the African American journey toward freedom, honoring lives lost in the struggle and celebrating those who fought for today’s freedoms. “FREEDOM” invites visitors to explore contemporary interpretations of freedom through art, addressing issues such as mass incarceration, police brutality, and educational inequities.
