The Plains Art Museum has extended the run of its major exhibit, “Oscar Howe: Ikíćiksapa” through the summer. The show was to end in March, but museum staffers wanted to continue showcasing the significant work.

“We want to make sure people have the opportunity to come and see it,” said Erin Shapiro, director and CEO of the Plains.

The show opened in late October, around the time Shapiro started at the museum, and she said the Plains could have done more to promote it.

She’s making up for that by offering a guided tour of the show from 11 a.m. to noon this Saturday — part of an ongoing effort to make the museum and its exhibits more accessible for the public.
