Art gallery at T.F. Green gives visitors a first impression of the local culture
When you think about seeing great art, you probably think about a visit to a museum or gallery – someplace like the RISD Museum or the WaterFire Arts Center. But, believe it or not, some really good art can be found at airports, including T.F. Green International.
So, where do you find it? When you enter the front doors – either on the top floor at check-in or the bottom floor at baggage claim – immediately turn to the right. You’ll see it. The airport works with the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, or RISCA, to choose artists to highlight every few months.
Morning Edition Host Luis Hernandez was at the airport recently when they were putting up work from three new artists.

Three in five small UK museums and galleries fear closure amid declining revenue, new research suggests
Three in five small museums and galleries in the UK fear closure amid declining revenue and footfall, research published this week suggests. The survey of 40 small, independent attractions—those with fewer than 100,000 annual visitors—also found that four in five (78%) reported the current period as the most challenging the sector has faced, while over half (58%) said overall income has not returned to its pre-Covid levels.
The research, conducted by the cloud platform GoDaddy in partnership with the charity Kids in Museums, surveyed small museums as well as galleries, historic buildings and heritage sites. Alison Bowyers, the executive director of Kids in Museums, tells The Art Newspaper that UK museums are suffering more than their counterparts in mainland Europe.
