A new art exhibition will open in Dún Laoghaire tomorrow inspired by the impact of modern-day technology on society.

‘Landscapes and Oddities’ is the first solo exhibition by artist Dave Madigan and will be on display at Dún Laoghaire library, dlr LexIcon.

The works include large-scale paintings, wide vistas and aerial views of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and the wider Dublin area.

By prominently positioning objects such as circuit boards, transmission towers, and other electronic equipment in his paintings, the artist transforms familiar Dublin locations into surreal scenes, populated with oversized and overrepresented technological components.

A new solo exhibition by artist Maria Kapajeva entitled “Hear My Scream, Listen To Their Dreams” opened at Tallinn’s Draakoni Gallery on Wednesday. The content of the exhibition is strongly influenced by the gallery’s location directly opposite the Russian Embassy.

According to a press release, Kapajeva’s aim with the exhibition is to foster a more nuanced dialogue regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine, which has led to the continual exposure of harrowing imagery.

Consequently, a process of desensitization has transpired, rendering people less able to empathize with the enduring violence faced by real individuals still fighting for their lives in Ukraine. The intricate details, nuances, and personal narratives have been reduced to easily shareable content that briefly crosses our screens before fading into obscurity.

Art Encounter and the Center for Independent Futures have joined hands, for the third year in a row, to mount an exhibit of artwork at the Coffee Lab, 910 Noyes St. The works are the result of a program of creative workshops and social connection offered by Art Encounter and teaching artist Val McCune, a 10-year Evanston resident.

The 10 adult participants from the Art Club are showing their artwork on the east wall during the month of April, with at least two pieces from each person being shown. The coffeeshop is chock full of artwork, so the exhibit, entitled “This is Us,” has a lot of competition.
