The Museums in the Metaverse (MiM) project, funded by the UK Government as part of the Innovation Accelerator programme, is a transformational research project in XR (Extended Reality) at the University of Glasgow, in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland, the National Museums of Scotland, the University’s own Hunterian Art Gallery and Museum and commercial partners Edify.ac.

MiM has a total funding envelope of over £5.5 million and builds on the university’s leading position in XR research and earlier policy, and project-focused work such as the Scottish Heritage Partnership and the Virtual Burns Museum. It is the only Creative and Cultural Economy project funded by the Innovation Accelerator in Scotland.
