Meta Moina: An NFT gallery for Bangladeshi digital artwork
Niharika Momtaz had carved a niche for herself as a designer of jewellery and fashion wear. But while working in the art scene in Dubai, where she is based, she suddenly got drawn by the buzz surrounding NFTs (non-fungible tokens). As much as she loved crafting and creating physical pieces, she realised her designs had potential to work as NFTs.
She embarked on a journey to familiarise herself with blockchain technology, digitisation of art, and so on. Last year, through a collaboration with Morrow Collective, a partner company, she finally created an NFT. She painstakingly took high quality photos of her physical artwork, from every side, for 3D modelling, which converted it to a digital token that’s usable in a blockchain application.

Three in five small UK museums and galleries fear closure amid declining revenue, new research suggests
Three in five small museums and galleries in the UK fear closure amid declining revenue and footfall, research published this week suggests. The survey of 40 small, independent attractions—those with fewer than 100,000 annual visitors—also found that four in five (78%) reported the current period as the most challenging the sector has faced, while over half (58%) said overall income has not returned to its pre-Covid levels.
The research, conducted by the cloud platform GoDaddy in partnership with the charity Kids in Museums, surveyed small museums as well as galleries, historic buildings and heritage sites. Alison Bowyers, the executive director of Kids in Museums, tells The Art Newspaper that UK museums are suffering more than their counterparts in mainland Europe.
